James Ingle ’26 was recently awarded the first-ever Dan Moeller Foundation Senior Scholarship. The $5,000 award was presented to Ingle at the 3rd Annual Gala on February 28, 2026. He was the only recipient, selected on the criteria of an application process that included a 500–750 word essay.
Ingle is a Toledo resident and attended St. John’s Jesuit Academy for middle school before enrolling in the high school. He has been selected as the Class of 2026 valedictorian. Ingle is a member of the Magis Society, National Honor Society, and Spanish Honor Society. He also co-founded the SJJ Engineering club and competes for St. John’s in Speech and Debate. In 2024, he was a state finalist in the International Extemporaneous Speaking category. In 2025, he led Johnnies for a Cure, a fundraising team which raised over $175,000 for Blood Cancer United (formerly the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society). He is also a part of the Christian Service Core Team, serving the community through fundraising, organizing food collections, and more. Additionally, he has competed in Track and Field as a shot-put and discus thrower for 4 years, where he will continue to compete at the college level at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. At MIT, Ingle plans to study nuclear science and engineering.
The 2026 Dan Moeller Foundation was establish to honor the memory of Dan Moeller who passed away in 2023 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. The Foundation’s Senior Scholarship is intended to honor the sacrifices many families make to provide a Catholic education for their children, and to celebrate Toledo-area Catholic High School seniors who have demonstrated perseverance, strong moral character, and faith while overcoming personal adversity—especially challenges that have impacted their mental or emotional well-being.
