An exciting collaborative effort between current students and alumni to plan and build a grotto on the grounds of the SJJ campus is currently underway. The Grotto Project is being completed by three seniors as part of their Magis Society Capstone Project: Calvin Mlcek, Beckham Schmitz, and Aidan Schutte. This is a project conceived of and funded by Board Chair Jeff Savage `80. The planned grotto will be located on the SJJ Campus within the hill across from the Greenhouse; it will be dedicated to SJJ Mothers and will include a niche for a statue of the Mother Mary.  The students are working with Ivan Dye, a 2016 alumnus of SJJ who is a professional architect, to learn how to properly design the space.  They are also working with Dan Anderson, a 1974 alumnus, who is helping to orient and consult on the entire project. The next step for this project is to get final Board approval from the Building and Grounds Committee.  The students hope to begin construction on the Grotto by March of 2023 and complete the project before graduation in May of 2023.
